The swinging golden age
Now here's a nice idea. BBC4 (a nice idea in its own right) is going to host a sixties-fest. But it's not going to be an all-out, there was some sort of golden age of TV back then, fest, according to this article in The Guardian. No, it's going to look at the actual stuff they broadcast at the time. We think of the sixties as wall-to-wall Avengers, Kenneth Clarke's 'Civilisation', Python and Dennis Potter. In fact there were a lot of American imports, Miss World, Black and White Minstrels...it should be a fascinating thing to watch and I shall certainly be tuning in.
BBC4, for those of you who've not yet tuned in, is well worth a visit.
